The Power Of Faith

Having faith is another form of confidence, not in ourself but in our relationship with Jesus. Sometimes we look at faith as if it is something extravagant and even something impossible to reach.  However, the Lord said, ‘If you have faith like a grain of a mustard seed you, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘be uprooted and planted into the sea,’ and it would obey you.’  Luke 17:6 He also said, ‘If you have faith like a grain of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, AND nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

We, with our wired minds over generations like to believe in what is logical, we think, ‘Well that is impossible.’ Yet Jesus says, ‘If we have faith the size of a mustard seed.’

A mustard seed for crying out loud! Just look at how tiny that seed is! Instead of focusing on the roots buried below the dirt intertwined in hard clay, rocks, other roots and who knows what else; we have to focus on the mustard seed!

Still convinced that moving mountains, believing in the impossible, seeing miracles is still impossible? Maybe this will change your mind…

Without having seen Him, you love Him, though you do not even see Him now, you believe in Him1 Peter 1:8a

Surely that takes more faith than a mustard seed! Not only to believe in a man that died- nailed to a cross, was in a tomb for three days, AND resurrected. BUT, also believing in a man that died for a bunch of people that will deny His very existence, and also died for the ones who would give their lives up to say the name of Jesus, as well as all the other mediocre Christians. Hmmm that must be faith bigger than a mustard seed. Oh wait! How about living for, teaching about, preaching about believing in a man that had ZERO NILCH NADA NONE NO sin!

That’s got to be at least a little bit bigger than a mustard seed. Right?

Put things in that perspective and it can most definitely make you laugh! Oh how we love to over think some things. Yet, we once believed that a fat man delivered presents to all the children in the world in one night as well as being able to fit down a chimney. Oh Ye of strange faith!
